First Finish

The pink waterlily opened this morning:
Very pretty! It probably didn't stay open long, as the sun hid behind clouds for most of the day.

My first job of the day was to try to fix this sort of thing:
Yesterday I sewed the binding onto the back of the quilt, but I had lots of wobbly bits where the weight of the quilt pulled me off course. So I stitched nearly the whole thing again, trying to sew straighter:

Then it was time to turn it over and stitch it down from the front:

And here's how it looked when I finished:

I braved the march flies to go outside and photograph it:

But as you can see from this enlargement, the march flies found me very quickly:

Here's the back so you can see the quilting better:

First finish for the year! I'm very happy to have finished this quilt without it turning into a UFO.

Great to have it finished. I do like the colour you have used

Impressive. The quilting is very effective adding intrest to a Bonnie quilt. What did you think of the magic biding?

Stitching that binding was a big job for a little machine, the end result is a very professional finish. The quilting reminds me of your waterlilies - nothing good to say about march flies though.

Wow, Vireya, you are very game to quilt it so beautifully. Did you do it on your domestic machine and if so, did you mark the quilt first? I am only game enough to use my walking foot with straight lines. I have not gotten past joining the first block. I have not been well, but I hope to finish it for the Sydney Show in June. I can keep on hoping! I like the binding. Do you have a website or tutorial I can visit for this?

Well done Vireya firstly to have finished it in such a short time and for not letting it become a UFO and for such a lovely quilt.
I love the quilting you have done!

I love it Vireya and you have done a beautiful job with the quilting. I am a long way off being brave enough to attempt something so intricate.

Congrats on the finish! It's beautiful! I really love the way you've quilted it, and the binding is a wonderful last touch.
I went for the same size (3x3), but I haven't even gotten the borders on, let alone quilted and bound! Go you! 8)

Love the quilting on your En Provence. I've got so many quilts to do for others I don't know when I will get it done. Thinking of trying Baptist Fan.
