Anyway, it is sad that it is gone. It was a very modern building when I first encountered it. And apparently once had Melbourne's first rooftop restaurant.

The Russell St Post Office and Telephone Exchange built in 1948 had a cafeteria on the top floor, would that count as a restaurant? Used to go there as a child with my mother who was an expert in finding unusual (and cheap) locations. You can see the west facing row of windows are still there even after becoming the Hero apartment building.
