Ninth Fire

Dan has started washing the floors, so we can get a better idea of the final look:
They won't be shiny once they are sealed, but should be roughly this colour.

We were at the site mainly to do this:
Burn the remaining pile of stumps and branches.

And, with some help from a couple of visiting family members,
throw onto the fire any burnable builders' waste.

It burnt down well by the end of the day,
but we stayed with the fire until well after dark to make sure there wasn't any chance of it getting out of control.

Apart from a few smouldering stumps, that is the end of the giant, headache-causing, pile!

Elsewhere on the block, I found these red curvy stems on some sundews:

I've only seen one sundew flower this year, and I didn't manage to get a good picture of it before Dot trampled it as she came to see what I was up to. But I'm wondering if maybe these are former flowers, growing down into the ground to plant their seeds? Or maybe they are just runners?
