Autumn Colour

Flowers aren't the only colourful things in the garden at the moment. A few of the trees are putting on a display as well.

Cercis canadensis "Lavender Twist" is turning gold:

Berberis:

My Japanese maple, Acer palmatum "Osakazuki", got scorched over summer but the leaves have a bit of colour between the burnt patches:

The crepe myrtles are looking good. Several of them look like this:

And one of them is more red:

The ginkgo is greeny-gold:

Acer rubrum "October Glory" really should have been re-named for the southern hemisphere:

There is more colour ahead, as the liquidambar has only just begun to turn:

You have some gorgeous autumn colors. Hard to think about autumn when spring is just arriving here.

At first I was tempted to say "Awww, you're moving into Fall?!? I'll miss your beautiful flower pictures!" but then I am reminded that the rich Fall displays of color can be as satisfying as the Spring and Summer blooms. It's as true in quilting as it is in gardening! Brought to mind the Byrds song: To everything (turn, turn, turn), there is a season and a time to every purpose, under heaven.
