In between was a hot and very windy day. Northern parts of the state were declared as "Code Red" fire danger. Here we were only at "Very High", because until yesterday you would hardly know it is nearly summer. We've had cooler and wetter weather here; we are not baked dry like many places further north. Have a look at our temperatures for the last 7 days, with the colours I used for my temperature quilt:

We've had a bit of everything!
Although the peony flowers on the bush are now finished, it isn't the total end. I have a couple in a vase that I brought in before the hot days:

What great foresight to bring the peonies indoors. The one in the vase is so beautifully soft with such delicate colouring.

Oh here as soon as my lovely iris bloom we seem to get really heavy rains and they get all blown down...glad you saved some peonies for inside aroma and beauty...

Beautiful shades in your vase of peony. I had read that florists keep their peonies in a fridge. The wind was so strong yesterday it stripped our lemon tree of most of the fruit. We topped the highest suburban temperature at 42.4, I dislike summer.
The flowers are gorgeous...

A lovely rose. I love the range of temps all in one week. Our weather and dust storm was terrible.
Beautiful peony. The heat sapped my roses, but I have a few inside in the vase to enjoy still.
