Before I got going this morning, I was surprised by a knock on the door. It was a parcel delivery - this book:
It is a "proof copy" of Flood of Fire by Amitav Ghosh, which I won in a giveaway on Goodreads. It's the third book of a trilogy. I loved the previous two, so hope this one will be a good conclusion to the story. I have to finish my current book club book before I can dive into it, though.
Later in the day, another delivery. We expected the roof trusses at about midday, but they didn't arrive until nearly 3:30. Some sections were lifted to the roof,
and others were unloaded to ground level:
In this photo you can see the steel frame that has been installed around what will be the large windows on the front of the house.
By the time everything was off the truck, it was time for the builders to pack up and go home for the day.

Wow! It is starting to really look like a house now...exciting times.

I read "Sea of Poppies" when it was short-listed for the Booker Prize, but didn't realise it was the first of a trilogy. I have to look for the other two; if I lived closer I'd ask to borrow yours! Your house seems to be coming on well, in spite of the rain.
