Christmas Tree

I haven't been feeling much Christmas spirit yet this year. There's been a lack of communication among my family, so we haven't managed to make a decision about where or when or how we will get together. But this sweet package of origami stars from a friend arrived in the mail yesterday:

That spurred me on to setting up the Christmas tree:

This juxtaposition of the "2020 dumpster fire" ornament and "Tawawachan", the mascot of the Kyoto tower, amuses me:

The mascot looks like its reaction to 2020 is about the same as mine!

Christmas is going to be different for us too this year. We usually see both sides of our extended family. This year, just the kids. Doesn't feel much like Christmas here, even with the tree up and decorated.

Cute tree and ornaments...we are not in the "mood" either. We will not be getting together with any family--so it will be ( as the song says:) "A blue blue Christmas without you.."
Next year hopefully we can all gather together...

Yes, this year it will be Christmas separated from families. You have a beautiful sewn wreath on the wall and a great patchwork pad under the tree. M.

My husband, daughter and I are the only ones left in both our families, so for the last several years.....just us 3 together for Christmas. I am trying to make an effort, tree doesn’t go up until 22nd December, tradition due to daughter’s birthday on the 21st...she will be 38... so this year it’s no different. I look forward to catching up with you, it’s been a while hasn’t it. Your tree is beautiful and cheery.

A tree for our times. You have created a very celebratory setting for it. Whatever pans out, hope your have a calm and happy day on the 25th.

You have done more than me. I won’t be putting mine up this year. We have been invited to our daughters home for Xmas day. She has only been living up here for 3 weeks. They boys will be able to play with their new toys all day.

I haven't set the tree yet... Your decorations are beautiful, I love the tree skirt!

I am not in the Christmas spirit either. We are in total lockdown. So I will be alone on Christmas Day. Not putting up a tree or doing much decorating. It seems pointless.
Your wreath wall hanging and tree skirt look great! Hopefully next year will be better.

I think it helps to "feel" Christmassy if you do make an effort. The tree will make a difference to your mood I'm sure. Merry Christmas...xox

I love your decorations! I keep my little tree up all year because I like to see my stitched ornaments all the time.
