Most of the eucalypts on our block are either messmate stringybark (Eucalyptus obliqua) or narrow-leaf peppermint gums (Eucalyptus radiata). Both seem to have flower buds for a lot of the time, but we haven't seen them actually flower so far. However today I looked out the window and noticed that this tree by our driveway is in flower:
And it is not alone. Many of the narrow-leaf peppermint gums are flowering. The flowers are hard to see because they are so high up, but I found a smaller tree with flowers close to the ground:
I wonder if they have flowered in previous years and we just didn't notice, or is this really the first year they've flowered since we've been here?

Lovely blooms--they look a bit like our rhodies...
are they scented? hugs, Julierose
Gum blossoms are delicate and pretty, lovely piece of nature.
Hi Vireya oh these are such pretty flowers,i havent seen these pepperment gums before xx
I have eucalypts that flower but not every year. Sometimes it is the sound of bees that draws me too look for the flowers. They are beautiful.
