Pretty Blue

The male of a group of blue wrens (really the Superb Fairy-wren, Malurus cyaneus) hopping among the pots at Plantmark today:
This nursery is in the middle of an industrial area, with not much bushland nearby. But it seems to be a good spot for a few species of native birds.

His plumage is such an amazing blue! Our wrens are a dull brown: well camouflaged.

Love blue wrens and red robins but I have not seen a blue wren since Lakes Entrance days and remember lots of red robins when on the land at Baxter...long before it was a suburb, Our land now grows turf and used to grow vegetables, which maybe says something about our country now, We import vegies from interstate and overseas but maybe lawn needs to be kept fresh!!
