Little Fairies

At the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show last year, I was quite taken with a featured new release, Lewisia cotyledon "Little Fairies". Recently they appeared in the local hardware store, but at over $10 each. That's a bit more than I'll spend on an experimental plant. I'd need to know it was going to grow and survive for that money.

But it wasn't long before they appeared on the mark-down table (as soon as the flowers faded), so I bought myself some at under half price. And today one of them started a new batch of flowers:

The colour selection is a lucky-dip. It will just be a nice surprise as each one develops new flowers.

Oooh, these are so lovely--and well named--good buy for you! I wish we didn't have our deer problem--they eat all my flowers--except for the daffodils--and so I really haven't planted at all outside. Of course, right now--with our 2 feet of snow on the ground it seems totally impossible that we'd even be able to sit outside; but It will be soon--we hope for a slow andeasy thaw here....hugs, Julierose

I just bought a couple of these at my local nursery. A first time plant for me. They are so cute. I got mine for $2.95 in the pots of colour section. Unfortunately my husband got a bit carried away and over watered them. Being a semi-succulent plant they did not appreciate it and one died, so don't over water!
