This is the Tree

This is an open flower on the mystery tree:


Isn't it beautiful?  The flower is about 5cm across, and the tree is covered in them.  Here's a taste:


Have you seen one of these?  It is a quince, Cydonia oblonga.

I love it when it's in flower, and jelly made from the fruit has the most marvellous flavour.
