The flowering season is a little out of order. When I was in Tokyo in January, there were some cherry blossom trees flowering in the snow. Do you harvest the saffron for cooking?
Your Sunflowers are late indeed - DD scattered half a packet of plain label Sunflower bird seed in her empty spaces and they came up a treat. All finished now, ready to become mulch!
The sunflower is a survivor.
