Walked past these giant french curves on my way to a late afternoon meeting.

Was surprised to find that one of my camellia sasanquas has started flowering.

Garden Show

A display garden at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show.

Interesting, but I prefer gardens with a few more plants in them.

Ballan

Went to Ballan for the Quilt & Craft Show, and discovered there was a whole bunch of other stuff happening there as well.

This May Take a While...

Is this part of why my friend's computer is running slowly?

It took over 8.5 hours to shut down.

Sunshine

A touch of autumn sunshine between classes at RMIT.

Humming

The street tree I photographed on 9th March is now fully in flower.

Walking by is an aural experience, as the humming of many bees is punctuated by the squawks of wattlebirds.

Corn, Hey?

I wonder if there is enough warm weather left for corn to ripen.

Autumn

My hydrangeas are turning autumnal.

Really?

The house which was demolished on the 4th is now for sale as three houses.

Don't think there will really be a lot of room for "landscaped gardens" around them.

Bees in a Banksia

An unknown Banksia in a neighbour's garden is very popular with the bees. Thanks for feeding the bees, neighbour!

Rose

Charles de Gaulle blooming in my garden, with lots of buds still to open.

Norfolk Island Pine

Was quite amazed to discover recently that this tree is grown as a house plant in the US.

Rosemary

Rosemary in bloom. This one is supposed to be pink, but I don't remember if it ever was. It has definitely been a lavender colour for the last few years.

Cosmos

Cosmos (Cosmos bipinnatus) blooming. This purple one has been blooming for about a week, and a white one is just starting.

Inspiration

Did a workshop on "Straps and O-rings" at Nicole Mallalieu's studio. Fantastic!

Why?

Why not just demolish the whole thing? Why did they keep just that tiny section of the original house? Especially when the woodwork seems to be all rotten down the right-hand side.

Busy

A bee on my lavender.

Pattern

Balconies make a fascinating patchwork pattern on a building under construction in the city.

Tree

Noticed this lovely street tree which is starting to flower.

Progress

Did some work on the second-last Red Delicious block.

More Transplants

The first ones still look OK, but they need to be kept under shadecloth for a while yet. I put them out in the sun for a couple of minutes and they started drooping immediately.

Wild Weather

The sky turned black at 2:30 in the afternoon, before flinging down hailstones the size of marbles.

Gone

This was a house this morning. I always wish there was some warning before this happens, so that I could go in and grab any interesting plants, or at least take cuttings from the garden.

Sedum

This sedum came with my garden. Last year I divided it up and now it is beginning to flower in a few corners of the garden.

Second Flowering

I've never realised before that this callistemon flowers twice a year. It flowered in October, and here it is again. Fewer bottlebrushes this time, and there seem to be fewer flowers in each brush.

I wonder if it does this every year?
