Camouflage

A grasshopper very well disguised as a gum leaf. I think it is one of the genera Goniaea - Gum Leaf Grasshoppers.

Found at our block at Lal Lal.

New Baby

A just-born baby Eucalyptus viminalis. Ten days after they were planted, the seedlings are appearing. One day we hope they will be 40-50 metres tall, but for now they are about 2mm across.

Loot

From the SCQuilters Christmas CBD get-together. I won the door prize - a calendar made by the wonderful Kate using photos from her recent trip to Canada. My Kris Kringle gift was a placemat made by Val. I feel very lucky.

Why does Blogger do this to some photos?

Free tickets to see Pedro Almodovar's "Los abrazos rotos" (Broken Embraces), best seats in the air-conditioned cinema, what more could one want?

The Greatest Fabric News of 1933

A former shopfront near my house has the windows covered with newspaper. But not just any newspaper, 76-yr-old newspaper!

(Sorry about the sky reflections.) It would be interesting to do a comparison of the prices compared to wages. I think that relatively speaking, fabric may be cheaper now, but silk crepe de chene for 3/11 a yard (about 40c) does sound like a bargain!

Why I Love the Internet

1. Get inspired by something you see online at 10pm on a Sunday
2. Google and find a supplier nearly 2,000km away.
3. Order and have the goods in your hand by lunchtime Tuesday.

Christmas Tat

This front yard is full of it!

The two giant non-inflated Santas have been lying on the ground for at least a week. I thought they were about to be inflated when I first saw them, but they stayed on the ground. Later I discovered that they are inflated (and illuminated) at night.

Entrance

Press the green button. ONLY ONCE - they don't like it if you get impatient. You don't hear anything from outside (although the buzzer is very loud inside) so you wonder if it is even working. Wait for someone to open the door.

Today I waited 10 minutes.
